We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this cottage! We have had the pleasure of staying here several times over the past few years and what a blessing each visit has been. This is not just another generic rental house, but seems much more like a home that has been in the same family for many years and treated with tender-loving care during that time. However, we never feel like we are staying in (or invading) someone else's house. The cottage has such a warm and friendly air about it that we always feel right at home just as soon as we walk through the front door and into the cozy, comfortable living-room with the amazing marsh view. Each time we visit, it feels like we are being welcomed back with open arms into our own happy little vacation cottage, but with all the necessities and many of the extras of our own everyday home. There has never been anything that we needed or wanted while staying here that was not already supplied. It is as if the owners have anticipated in advance almost anything and everything that a person could possibly desire while vacationing here. This adorable little cottage seems very thoughtfully designed for fun, comfort, and relaxation with something (or, if you prefer, nothing) to do for guests of all ages. It could just as easily be the perfect vacation haven for honeymooners, small families, mature couples, older adults, or girls' get-aways, as well. We could not possibly wish for a more wonderful, more peaceful place to spend time alone or with our own family and friends. We are already looking forward to our next visit to this truly special Desired Haven. The name really does say it ALL!

I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying at Desired Haven! It is such a nice place and very charmingly decorated. We just loved the adorable plaque by the front door that reads "Home Is Where The Beach Is". The cottage is so cozy and comfortable that it would surely be impossible NOT to feel at home there! We really enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the back porch in the mornings drinking coffee and watching the many different varieties of birds eating at the feeders hanging from the oak trees in the big backyard. It was also nice sitting there in the evening when it was quiet and listening to the sounds of the ocean in the background during high tide. The lagoon across from the front yard was a great place to watch egret and heron while joggling on the Charleston joggling board on the front deck. We even saw a HUGE alligator on the golf course across the street! We had fun exploring Fripp in the "Pink Pearl" (our name for the cute little pink golf cart) and had our pictures taken on Forrest Gump's Bench near one of the tees on Ocean Creek Golf Course where the Vietnam battle scene of that movie was filmed. You can even see where some of the palm trees are still blackened from the "explosives" that were used while filming that scene. Of all the great things about staying at this cottage, we think the best would have to be how convenient the location is to just about everything there is to do on Fripp, but without being hemmed-in by other houses on every side. The cottage provides such a pleasant sense of privacy, peace and quiet that it is no wonder the owners named it Desired Haven. We are looking forward to a return visit just as soon as possible!

My close group of friends and I had a wonderful time in this beautifully appointed cottage. We loved the clever mix of nice quality Ethan Allen furniture with the much more casual "shabby-chic" beach decor--very unique and really charming! Everything about the cottage is so well done--from the comfortable furniture, bedding, and linens to the generous kitchenwares, equipment, and accessories. It is the perfect place for a group of girls to gather; whether just to hang out on the wonderful screened-in back porch or on the beautiful nearby beach. The cottage feels so private, yet it is so convenient to all that Fripp Island has to offer. We were literally a 5 minute walk away from the beach, a 10 minute walk away from the marina, and the Ocean Creek Golf Course was right across the street. Having the "Carolina Girl" (our name for the cute little pink golf cart!) made it easy to get anywhere on the Island in just minutes and parking was NEVER a problem. We also enjoyed how easy it was to get to so many tourist attractions from Fripp Island itself. We had a blast shopping at the Tanger Outlet Malls near Hilton Head, eating at Paula Deen's famous restaurant "Lady and Sons" in Savannah, taking a horse and buggy tour of Historic Beaufort, visiting Penn Center on Saint Helena Island and sampling some of the delicious Gullah food there. Wow! As much fun as all this was, we were always ready at the end of the day to return to our comfortable cottage, gather in the rocking chairs on the back porch with our cold drinks in hand, recount our day's activities and plan our next day's adventures. We are hoping to make this trip an annual tradition and we will DEFINITELY choose Desired Haven as our "home away from home" when we return!

We really enjoyed staying at this house! There were cards and games to play, puzzles to put together and lots of good movies to watch. They have WiFi and iPod players and docks with speakers for iPads too. We went to the beach and we rode around in the golf cart but we didn't really like it because it was pink and we felt stupid! We caught some really big fish and cooked them and ate them for supper. We even found 6 really big deer antlers by the marsh behind the house! We had a lot of fun and hope we get to come back this summer so we can use the outdoor shower! Maybe they will get a different golf cart that is not pink!!!

My new husband, Ethan, and I were so excited to be able to return to our "Honeymoon Haven" over the Holidays! We are both in Pharmacy School and don't have a lot of time to spare between studying and working, and even less money to spend on luxuries like vacations. Desired Haven is such a great deal, though, that even we could afford a vacation there, so we made the time to make it happen! The cottage was decorated so adorably for Christmas! The seashell wreath on the door, the palm tree Christmas flag flying from the front porch, and the Lowcountry Santas keeping an eye out for naughty little boys and girls in each room helped add to the Coastal Christmas feel of the cottage. We really enjoyed curling up on the big, soft sofa in front of the fireplace with the beautiful marine-life tiled firebox surround. It is so unique that I am sure it must be a one-of-a-kind custom design. Actually, the entire cottage is quite unique and has a very custom look to it, without feeling "fussy"or "staged". It is cozy, comfortable, and really cute! Each of the bedrooms has a different design and they are all darling, but our favorite would have to be the Lagoon Room. We love the big, king-size bed and the adjoining bathroom as well the soft green walls, the nice wicker and rattan furniture, and all the other tropical touches that decorate this roomy and relaxing retreat. My husband will graduate this Spring (I still have another year to go) and we are looking forward to celebrating his accomplishment with another trip to our very favorite place on the planet...Desired Haven here we come!! Oh, I almost forgot--I was given an essay that my husband wrote when he was in the eighth grade for an English class about what he did during the summer. Although he spent two weeks in the mountains of Peru, he chose to write about his family's vacation at this cottage! Desired Haven is every bit as special to him (and me) now as it was then. I am posting his essay after my review. SORRY, Ethan!!

A place I know is unlike any other I have ever visited. It is a place of fun and good times, rest and relaxation. This place is called Desired Haven. As soon as the front porch is reached, all cares are quickly forgotten. The feel of a warm, moist summer breeze on my face melts away stress as easily as if it were butter. The smell of salt air off the ocean seems to inhabit this cottage almost constantly, creating a sense of summer fun yet to come. The fragrance of sunscreen being quickly applied in anticipation of a trip to the beach adds to my almost unbearable excitement of being here. Later, the feel of sand dragged inside by carefree feet is a happy reminder of time simply spent playing frisbee there. The outside of this cottage is beautiful with it's aged sea-green siding, dark green worn decks, and rusty screened-in porch where four rocking chairs, a softly squeaking swing (which seems to quietly call out my name), a weathered picnic table, and an old paint-chipped china cabinet all make their home overlooking the marsh. This is the perfect place to sit and watch the prettily painted Carolina songbirds eating at the multiple feeders hanging from the oak trees in the backyard, as well as the big bucks carefully crossing the marsh along with their favorite does and fawns in tow. Inside this cottage the living room, dining room and kitchen all share softly faded sand-dollar colored walls and smooth, milk chocolate brown, hardwood floors. Each of the three bedrooms has it's own theme. The Nautical Room is designed for sailors with it's maps and books about the sea. The Beach Room is filled with shells and things relating to them. A tropical breeze seems to blow from the Lagoon Room with it's cool green walls and palm tree paintings. The beds all seem softer here and encourage you to spend lazy days sleeping-in on them. It is hard to visit this magical place without a feeling of belonging or a stronger feeling of wanting to return. I hope that I will be back soon!

Wonderful visit! Can't ask for a better vacation spot--the beach, golf, fishing, and it's all within easy walking distance. This cottage is really fantastic! It's equipped with every-thing you will need and more for a fun and relaxing stay. I highly recommend it and can't give it enough stars. Can't wait to come back!

Just returned from a long weekend at Desired Haven. My family and I have stayed here several times before, among other places on Fripp, but this house is by far our favorite! It's close to everything, affordably priced, nicely furnished, and includes a generous supply of really nice linens, too. That is one of those "comforts of home" that you don't usually find in most beach rentals and one that we always very much appreciate. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the owners have added iPhone/iPod alarm clocks with charging docks/music players to each bedroom and an iPad charging dock with speakers in both the LR and MBR since our last visit. Now we will no longer have to drag those items along with us, but can still listen to our own playlists and Pandora while our devices are charging. SWEET!

My friends and I chose to stay at Desired Haven because, unlike so many of the other houses on Fripp Island, it was a one story home with just a few steps to climb to get onto the porch and into the house. We are in our 70's and 80's and also liked the fact that this home had comfort-height toilets in both bathrooms. We did not see this feature listed in any of the other rental houses that we looked at, so it made the decision to book this home an easy one. Boy, are we glad we did! We not only got comfort-height toilets but much, much more. We felt comfortable getting in and out of the shower due to the three safety bars that are there and we liked the fact that each bedroom has a smoke alarm in addition to the one in the hallway outside the bedrooms and one in-between the living room and dining room. This home is also very well-lit with bright overhead lights in each room in addition to plenty of lamps, and night lights in both bathrooms, too. This home not only seems designed with safety in mind but comfort, as well. The mattresses and pillows all feel like they are very good quality, the sofa is soft and spacious enough for 3 adults, and the recliner is quite comfortable while being easy to get in and out of...although you may not want to get out once you get in.This home is more than adequate to meet anyone's vacation's needs. It is clean, neat, pretty, well-appointed, very conveniently located, comfortable, safe, and "senior friendly", too! We loved it and are looking forward to returning soon!

After proposing to my fiancé, my next big decision was where to spend our honey- moon. Because we were both in graduate school and would be for another 12-24 months, I had to be careful concerning how much money to spend on this all- important vacation. I wanted to take my new wife some place really special, a place that we would both always look back on with fond memories, but I knew I couldn't spend a fortune. I started thinking about different places and the same name came popping into my head over and over again, Desired Haven! I had vacationed here many times with my family when I was growing up and remembered it as a sort of magical place and hoped that my new wife would think so, too. I found it on-line and was relieved to see the week I wanted was available and that the price was very affordable, even for a struggling grad student like me. My fiancé was slightly skeptical, to say the least, when she heard the words "low cost cottage" but I am pleased to report that she was as happy as a clam as soon as we walked through the front door and pronounced the cottage "PERFECT"! I was secretly relieved because I had often heard my Dad say that "a happy wife is a happy life" so I felt that I was getting off to a good start! The owners had learned that newlyweds would be staying at their cottage and surprised us with a bottle of Barefoot Bubbly champagne, two sea shell champagne glasses, and even decorated their golf cart with a "Just Married" sign and pink flamingo garland. Everything about the cottage was even better than I had remembered as a child and our honeymoon will always be remembered fondly by both of us. We hope to return as soon as we have some spare time. Even when we both graduate and become Pharmacists, I know that this is the place that we will choose when deciding where to stay on Fripp Island!

Fripp Island is one of my favorite vacation locations, and our week-long stay in this house only added to our enjoyment! The marsh views from the screened back porch are fantastic-- I think we ate every meal outside. The house itself is absolutely lovely--each of the three bedrooms has a distinctive feeling. My favorite would have to be the smallest bedroom with its nautical maps. The location of this house is perfect. Only a short golf or bike ride to a quiet beach access, another quick ride to the marina. Even the veranda side of the island isn't far away. Great island, great house! I'm looking forward to a return trip soon!

The mailbox says Desired Haven, and this cottage is certainly that. We stayed several weeks ago and loved it so much we are going back very soon. The owner has put so much into this home from the comfortable and beautiful furniture, to all of the linens and kitchenware. There is a full size washer and dryer and a really nice grill. The golf cart is perfect for getting around the island. Theer is even a tide clock in the kitchen which lets you know where the tide is in its cycle, very cool! I have stayed at other beach properties that that were a lot more expensive, but did not have as much to offer. This house is a real bargain.
We spent so much time on the back deck enjoying the marsh and wildlife while rocking in the rocking chairs.Though there is a nice dining area we ate most of our meals on the deck.
Don't worry if it rains. There are ample movies to watch, wireless internet if you need to go online and plenty of fun puzzles in a closet.
We can't wait to go back!!!
